FILM: Soor Sangat (A documentary on Pt Vasantrao Acharekar)
‘Soor Sangat’ - Presenter: Mr. Suresh Achrekar
In the 20th episode of ‘Sudarshan Sangeet Sabha’, Maharashtra Cultural Centre has organized screening of a documentary film “Soor Sangat”. Late Vasantrao Achrekar was a renowned Tabla accompanist in yesteryears. His Tabla accompaniment was cherished by many maestros including Pandit Kumar Gandharva. As a Tabla player, Achrekar had a colorful career in Film music, Natya Sangeet, light music as well as Art music. “Soor Sangat”, a documentary produced by his son Mr. Suresh Achrekar depicts the contribution of Achrekar as a Tabla maestro. Renowned musicians such as Malini Rajurkar, Yashvantbua Joshi, Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan, Zarin Daruwala, etc had shared their memories about Achrekar in this film.
This screening will take place at Sudarshan Rangamanch, Pune on Sunday, 17th Feb. 2013, at 11am. Donation passes will be available half hr prior to show at venue.
Seminar: Agra Gharana
Pt. Satyasheel Deshpande has been invited to present his insights into the music of the Agra Gharana, as part of the Lalit Kala Kendra, Pune University's seminar on the Agra Gharana. The seminar is from the 13th - 15th Feb 2013 and includes presentations by Pt. Arun Kashalkar, Shri. Rajendra Manerikar, Pt. Babanrao Haldankar and Pt. Rajamiya.
