Thomas Schrott, played extensively in Italy for the most important concert societies such as: Teatro alla Scala di Milano, the Theaters of Bologna, Mantova, Genova, Torino and Rome, the Festivals of Ravello, Portogruaro and Mittelfest. Furthermore, he has performed concerts at the London Barbican and Royal Albert Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic (small hall) in North and South America, Japan, South Africa, India, Bahrain, Mauritius, Turkey, Montenegro, Cuba and Uzbekistan.

As a soloist, he performed with the Moldova Symphony Orchestra (Beethoven Concerto), Orchestra della Sagra Musicale Umbra (cond. Thomas Briccetti), Festival Strings Lucerne (cond. Rudolf Baumgartner), Bombay Chamber Orchestra (cond. Wolfgang Harrer, Vienna).

Daniel Bosshard studied with Hans Andreae at the Zurich Conservatory as well as with Rolf Mäser (piano) and Robert Suter (composition) at the Music Academy of Basel. Besides teaching piano at the teacher’s training faculty of the University of Zurich he was for 10 years member (harpsichord) and soloist of the “Festival Strings Lucerne” (conductor: Rudolf Baumgartner). As a pianist and harpsichordist he has toured in Switzerland, Germany, France, Finland, Italy, Austria, Japan and South Africa. With violonist Thomas Schrott he has played several times in India and Bahrain."

पुणे, ता. १ - ज्येष्ठ तबलावादक उस्ताद अल्लारखॉं यांच्या स्मृतिदिनानिमित्त येत्या शनिवारी (ता. ७) "सा' व "नी' सूरसंगीत संस्थेतर्फे संगीत मैफल आयोजिण्यात आली आहे.

ज्येष्ठ तबलावादक पं. सुरेश तळवलकर यांच्या शिष्यांचे "तालकीर्तन', कौशिकी चक्रवर्ती यांचे शास्त्रीय गायन; तसेच अल्लारखॉं यांचे शिष्य योगेश समसी यांचे तबलावादन आदी कार्यक्रम होणार आहेत."सकाळ' या कार्यक्रमाचा माध्यम प्रायोजक आहे.

यशवंतराव चव्हाण नाट्यगृह येथे सायंकाळी साडेपाच वाजता ही मैफल होणार आहे. सुरवातीला "तालकीर्तन' होईल. त्यानंतर "फिल्म्स डिव्हिजन'निर्मित अल्लारखॉं यांच्यावरील लघुपट दाखविण्यात येणार आहे. "अल्लारखॉं यांचे तबल्यातील योगदान' या विषयावर तळवलकर श्रोत्यांशी संवाद साधणार आहेत. त्यानंतर कौशिकी चक्रवर्ती यांचे गायन होईल. त्यानंतर योगेश समसी यांच्या एकल (सोलो) तबलावादनाने या मैफलीची सांगता होणार आहे.

"सा' व "नी' सूरसंगीत संस्थेचे सुरेंद्र मोहिते म्हणाले, ""अल्लारखॉं यांच्या स्मृतीला वंदन करण्यासाठी पुण्यातील तबलावादक आणि सर्व कलाकारांतर्फे कार्यक्रम व्हावा, अशी आमची इच्छा होती. संगीतावर विलक्षण प्रेम करणाऱ्या अल्लारखॉंनी ए. कुरेशी या नावाने 25 चित्रपटांना संगीत दिले, म्हणूनच या कार्यक्रमात तबल्याबरोबरच गायनाचाही समावेश केला आहे. या कार्यक्रमाला प्रवेश विनामूल्य असून, यशवंतराव चव्हाण नाट्यगृह येथे शनिवारी सकाळी साडेनऊपासून "एका व्यक्तीस दोन' याप्रमाणे प्रवेशिका देण्यात येतील.

Shrimati Devaki Pandit is a maharashtrian performer of classical, semi-classical, light and devotional music India.

She received her initial music training from her mother Smt. Usha Pandit. She then trained under Vasantrao Kulkarni, Kishori Amonkar, Jitendra Abhisheki. Devakitai is currently receiving instruction from Babanrao Haldankar. In light music, she counts poet-composer Sudhir Moghe among her gurus.

She started performing at the age of nine and did her first recording at the age of twelve, but came into the limelight when she was given a break by Hridaynath Mangeshkar in a programme on doordarshan. A highly talented singer, she has not only given performances in India, but has undertaken concert tours all over the world at the invitation of prestigious institutions. She has also sung for various films, with renowned music directors. However, her focus remains on Hindustani classical music.

Sameer started learning music from Pt. Rambhau Mate in Pune, in 1980, at the age of 12. Quickly grasping the various technicalities of Classical Music, he realised the need for a performer Guru, and was accepted by Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki, in 1989.

About the artist:Born in 1968, Dr. Ram Deshpande had his initial training in vocal music from Chepe, Panake and Prabhakar Deshkar. He then took advanced training from noted vocalists Yeshwantbuwa Joshi and Ulhas Kashalkar. He has also undergone training under senior vocalist Babanrao Haldankar. Thus, Dr. Deshpande’s renditions are marked by influences of the Gwalior, Jaipur and Agra gharana.

A gold medalist for his post graduation from the Nagpur University, Dr. Deshpande completed his doctoral thesis on Mishra Raags under the guidance of V.R. Athavle. He was a recipient of a scholarship instituted by the Government of India and the Kesarbai Kerkar scholarship awarded by the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Mumbai. He was awarded the Best Vocalist Award in 1991 by the Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata. He has also received the Vidyasagar Award and the Aditya Birla Kalakiran Award in 2005.

SEMINAR: "Aesthetics, history and society: The case of north Indian classical music"

Pune University's Lalit Kala Kendra and English Department, and Mansoor Sansmaran manch are organizing a seminar on "Aesthetics, history and society: The case of north Indian classical music".

Following eminent people from the field of music will be participating:

About the artist:

Anand Bhate is one of the most promising artistes in the new generation of the great Kirana tradition. He started his musical journey in early childhood and continued to present different aspects, such as Hindustani Classical Music, Marathi natyasangeet and devotional compositions. The 9th Shaniwarwada Kala Mahotsav 2008 will be held at the Shaniwarwada grounds from December 25 to 28. Maharashtra bhushan legendary Marathi poet and lyricist Mangesh Padgaonkar will inaugurate the festival at 6 pm on December 25.

Marathi short story writer D M Mirasdar, classical dancer Sucheta Chapekar-Bhide, Saregamapa little champ Shamika Bhide and shehnai maestro Daithankar will be felicitated on the occasion.

25th Dec:
The opening day will see singer Rahul Deshpande perform at 6.30 pm.

26th Dec:
Veteran Marathi actor Vikram Gokhale will present the Marathi play Pitrudevobhav at 6.30 pm on December 26. At 7.30 pm Pramod Ranade, Anagha Pendase and Shamika Bhide will present a special programme Majhe Jeevan Gaane in which they will recite lyrics written by Padgaonkar.

27th Dec:
Theatre group Natya Sampada will present their play Avgha Rang Ekchi Jhala on December 27 between 7.30 pm to 10 pm.

28th Dec:
Marathi artistes — Hrishikesh Ranade, Ashutosh Joshi and Swapnaja Wangikar — will enthrall audience with their novel programme ‘Song of the Life,’ on December 28 at 6.30 pm. Dedicated to the youth, this programme is visualised by Hrishikesh Ranade.

सुदर्शन महोत्सव

Maharashtra Cultural Centre, a hub of cultural activists experimenting on drama, music, dance and visual arts in the heart of Pune city. Along with in-home productions in performing arts, it is well known for conducting various workshops, academic experiments. MCC organizes a unique three-day 'Sudarshan Music Festival' every year, in which various genres in music is represented by the master performers in the respective fields.

On Friday, 21^st Nov. 08, a special concert on musical contribution of celebrated Kathak danseuse, scholar and Guru late NrityaPanditaa Rohini Bhate, "Rohini-Smaran" will be presented by famous dancer Sharvari Jamenis with vocalists Madhuri Joshi and Shreepad Bhawe. Nikhil Phatak (Tabla) and Ajay Parad (Harmonium) will accompany to them. In compeering, Chaitanya Kunte will bring out the aesthetic rupture in the Bandish-s of late Rohini Ji.

On Saturday, 22^nd Nov. 08, in concert 'Sur-Sangat', Smt. Kumudini Kaatdare - a senior vocalist from Jaipur-Atrouli gharana will perform and explain the musical contribution of Ustad Alladiya Khan, Mogubai Kurfikar and Kishori Amonkar to Hindustani Art music through thier Bandish-s.

On Sunday, 23^rd Nov. 08, the connoisseurs of Marathi literature can experience the grandeur of GyaanPeeth Awarded celebrated poet Vinda Karandikar's contribution in a thematic presentation "Onjalit Swar Tuzech". Along with the recitation of poems by Akshay Pendse and Swati Dixit, the songs will be rendered in tunes by Anuradha Marathe and Ajay Purkar under music direction of young composer Chaitanya Kunte.

About the artist:

A harmonium player, composer and researcher, Chaitanya Kunte has been receiving intensive training in harmonium from Dr. Arawind Thatte and in vocal music from Mohanrao Karve.

He is a graded artiste with All India Radio and has provided harmonium accompaniment with notable vocalists for commercial recordings and concerts.

Drawing inspiration from traditional compositions and from the work of more contemporary composers of Hindustani vocal music, Kunte has also experimented with composing in a wide variety of forms like khayal, tappa, tarana, chatarang, sadra, sargam-geet, thumri, dadra, and bhajan. He has explored raags and taals that are not commonly heard and has also composed thumris in Marathi. Kunte presents thematic concerts featuring his compositions.

Chaitanya Kunte has received a fellowship for his research pertaining to tappa, from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. He is currently appointed as visiting lecturer at Lalit Kala Kendra (Centre for Performing Arts), Pune University. Apart from his research in music, Kunte also has Master’s degrees in Indology and History and an M. Phil. degree in Archaeology.

About the artist

A well-known Kathak dancer of the new generation, Rajendra Gangani is the son and desiciple of the renowned Kathak Guru Kundanlal Gangani. He excels in Nritta and his art displays the distinctive features of the Jaipur school of Kathak. He has performed in major festivals in India and abroad including the Festival of India in USSR, the Kathak Mahotsava in Delhi, and the Konark Festival in Orissa. Apart from his solo performances, he has also made a mark with his choreographic works for his students at Kathak Kendra, Delhi.
