Hindustani Classical Music Appreciation Workshop

A good opportunity for North Indian Classical Music lovers, specially for those residing in Koregaon Park, Camp, Kalyaninagar, Vimannagar, Mundhwa, Nagar Rd, Wagholi etc areas of Pune city. 

The discussions on Indian music have been predominantly on theoretical aspects and mainly by theoreticians and not by practicing musicians. In this workshop Pushkar Lele, a noted classical vocalist, composer and writer intends to examine with a liberal and holistic approach various aspects of a Contemporary Hindustani(North Indian) Classical Music Performance for a lay listener. The workshop is meant to engage the participants to critically and objectively demystify the basics of Indian Classical Music and tries to seek in the context of changing times, a new meaning appropriate to what has come down from tradition."

The workshop would cover a brief overview of Music-s of India - Varieties and Features, Raga-Tala-Bandish, Music Making, Techniques of Elaboration, Forms of Music, Raga-Ras and Raga-Samay connection, Instrumental Music, Gharana and their contribution.

पं. छोटा गंधर्व हे मराठी रसिकांना एक नावाजलेले संगीत-नट म्हणून सुपरिचित असले तरी त्यांचा रागसंगीताही सखोल व्यासंग होता. नाट्यसंगीतातील दीर्घ कारकिर्दीबरोबरच पं. छोटा गंधर्वांनी ’गुनरंग’ या मुद्रेने अनेक बंदिशी बांधल्या, नवरागनिर्मिती केली.

छोटा गंधर्वांच्या स्मृतिदिनानिमित्त त्यांच्या रागसंगीतातील योगदानावर प्रकाश पाडणारा विशेष कार्यक्रम सुदर्शन संगीत सभेच्या २१ व्या भागात सादर होत आहे. छोटा गंधर्वांचे शिष्य व संगीतकार विश्वनाथ ओक आणि गायिका माधुरी ओक हे औरंगाबादचे कलाकार दांपत्य हा कार्यक्रम पेश करणार असून छोटा गंधर्वांचे नवनिर्मित राग, बंदिशी यांचे सादरीकर ते करतील. तसेच छोटा गंधर्वांचे काही दुर्मिळ ध्वनिमुद्रणही रसिकांना ऐकायला मिळेल.

In the 15th episode of Sudarshan Sangeet Sabha, Maharashtra Cultural Centre has organized screening of rare video footage on the music forms such as Tarana, Tappa and Thumari featuring the maestros such as Shobha Gurtu, Rajabhau Kogje, Veena Sahasrabudhhe, Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Vidyadhar Vyas, Sarala Bhide and Sharad Sathe. महाराष्ट्र कल्चरल सेंटर प्रस्तुत ’सुदर्शन संगीत सभा’ उपक्रमाच्या १२व्या भागात ’गोमंतकीय लोकसंगीत’ या विषयावर गोव्यातील गायक, संगीताभ्यासक श्री. रुपेश गावस सप्रयोग व्याख्यान देतील. त्यांच्याशी संगीतकार चैतन्य कुंटे संवाद साधतील. गोव्यातील पारंपरिक लोकसंगीतातील धालोगीत, घुमटआरती, नमन, लग्नगीते, मांडो, धनगरगीत,सणांची गीते, शिमग्याची गाणी व नृत्यसंगीत यांची  ध्वनिमुद्रिणे, चित्रणे यांच्या आधारे हे सादरीकरण होईल. रविवार, दि. १७ जून २०१२ रोजी सकाळी ११ वा. सुदर्शन रंगमंच येथे हा कार्यक्रम होणार आहे. प्रवेशिका अर्धा तास आधी उपलब्ध होतील.

Sangeet Vimarsha: Lecture-Demonstration by Dr. Arawind Thatte

Dr. Arawind Thatte, the veteran Harmonium player is also well known for his fundamental thoughts on music. In his book ‘Sangeet Vimarsha’, he has written about many of his original theories and thoughts about Hindustani Art music.

Maharashatra Cultural Centre has organized a 4-day Lecture-demonstration by Dr Arawind Thatte. In this Lec-dem, Dr Thatte will explain his thoughts on Graam-Murchhana-Shruti-Swar system, Tanpura, Raag Rachana & Vistaar, Bandish, Laya-Taal-Theka, Tanta Ang – Gayaki Ang, Dhrupad Ang – Khayal Ang. This Lec-dem will be held at Sudarshan Rangamanch, Shaniwar Peth, Pune from 20^th to 23^rd Feb. 2012 (Monday to Thursday), 6 pm to 8 pm. "संगीत विमर्श" : डॉ. अरविंद थत्ते यांची सप्रयोग व्याख्यानमाला

विख्यात हार्मोनिअमवादक डॉ. अरविंद थत्ते हे संगीतावर मूलगामी विचार करणारे व्यासंगी अभ्यासक म्हणून सुपरिचित आहेत. त्यांनी विकसित केलेली एकल हार्मोनिअमवादनाची व स्वरजुळणीची पद्धती प्रस्थापित आहेच, शिवाय संगीताच्या मूलभूत स्वरूपाबद्दल त्यांनी केलेला विचार त्यांच्या ’संगीत विमर्श’ या ग्रंथात मांडला आहे. महाराष्ट्र कल्चरल सेंटर या संस्थेने डॉ. अरविंद थत्ते यांची एक विशेष सप्रयोग व्याख्यानमाला आयोजित केली आहे. या सप्रयोग व्याख्यानमालेत डॉ. अरविंद थत्ते हे या विषयांवर आपले विचार मांडणार आहेत -

ग्राम – मूर्छना – श्रुति - स्वरव्यवस्था, तानपुरा, रागरचना व विस्तार, बंदिश, लय – ताल - ठेका विचार, तंत अंग - गायकी अंग, ध्रुपद अंग - खयाल अंग

पं. कुमार गंधर्वांचा संगीत विचार – The music of Pt. Kumar Gandharva

Pt. Satyasheel Deshpande has been invited to present a guided listening session on his guru Pt. Kumar Gandharva. This session will feature rare audio and video recordings from Samvaad Foundation’s archive and will explore Kumarji’s musical journey in a very different way.

Satyasheelji has spent many days compiling this selection of recordings from the archive and together with his expert, insightful commentary and demonstrations, this is a programme not to be missed.
