Jazz Utsav

Five international artistes and well-known home-grown musical geniuses like Gary Lawyer and Louis Banks, will offer much jazz for thought at the forthcoming Ishanya Pune Jazz Utsav.

Scheduled to be held at Ishanya mall's amphitheatre on November 20, 21 and 22, the three-day jazz extravaganza will be a big leap for Pune as it marks the city as one of the three destinations that will host the much-famed Jazz Utsav in the country.

Names like Wanny Angerer from Honduras, the Nils Olav Johansen Quartet from Norway, the Thaerichens Tentet from Germany, the Rafal Gorzycki EP Trio from Poland and famous Dutch trumpeter Saskia Laroo, along with home-bred Gary Lawyer and Louis Banks, will present a gamut of jazz for Puneites to feast on. The event has been organised in collaboration with the Pune Jazz Club (PJC).

A Tribute to the Ticklers

"From the speakeasys of New Orleans to modern day New York, jazz and its' pianists have had a colorful history.
New Yorker Richard Bennett will play vivid selections ranging from ragtime to bebop to blues illustrating the differences between the music of various eras. He will also play original compositions that convey the present and future of the music drawing on rhythms from all around the world. It is guaranteed to be a fun, swinging and enlightening programme."

Pune Jazz Utsav

Jazz Utsav with Southern Quartet, Jazz Function and Adrian D'Souza Trio.

Jazz is a celebration of the human spirit expressed through music. Jazz Utsav is a festival of this celebration, the annual coming together of jazz music, jazz musicians and jazz fans for three days in November, in Mumbai and Delhi.  This time also in Pune.
